Farm Project

Farm business name : Not yet available

Project / business scope :

I am looking to establish a farm that produces regenerative organic produce for local markets and wholesale. I hope to support our local food shed via production and over time, provide opportunities for employment and support farming as a vocational pathway. I plan to implement growing methodologies that I have learnt and practised on other farms in addition to size appropriate trials of more regenerative practices. I will start small, build up sales channels and grow at a sustainable pace . Sales channels include but not limited to; local retailers, farmers market & Brisbane wholesale. There is a strong pull for organic produce both locally and domestic, which supports a viable business plan.

Short-term goals and vision for project :

The initial goal is to stay agile in the first season whilst sales channels are found and be open to market feedback. For this, a half-acre block is all that would be cultivated in the first year. At this point, the initial growing plan will be to find approx 5 lines of seasonal produce for local wholesale. I aim to keep things simple whilst systems are developed. It is difficult to plan much beyond here at this stage, there are multiple options for sales channels and increasing production. However, this will be guided by a Holistic context and decision-making matrix.

Proposed farm practices:

Certified Organic, Bio-dynamic, Regenerative Agroforestry. There are a multiple tools to use, with the outcome in mind of healthy soil, healthy plants and healthy people. Tools such as; Soil food web theory, HM ecological monitoring, Syntropy, Brix-readings, Sap analysis, foliar sprays.
