We currently have a fantastic job opportunity to manage our small (4ac approx) biodynamic market garden, located as part of our mixed farm and vineyard.

This role is a full-time, permanent position responsible for the successful operation of Ngeringa’s commercial market garden and farm. This role is a hands-on, manual role requiring effective leadership of the market garden team and a commitment to biodynamic, regenerative farm practices. The Market Garden and Farm Manager is responsible for the daily management of Ngeringa’s fresh vegetable production, working to a seasonal calendar and for the wellbeing of Ngeringa’s livestock and grazing program.

The role may require attendance at Ngeringa after normal hours.

Given the uniqueness and vision of the Ngeringa brand, this role relies on your passion for vegetable growing and your capability and enthusiasm to consistently produce and improve all aspects of growing nutritious biodynamic food.

Skills

• Practical and technical market garden experience
• Machinery operation & maintenance experience
• Motor Vehicle license
• Computer skills
• Experience with Organic and/or BD farming
• Experience with livestock management and care
• Positive and energetic working approach
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Pragmatic and result focused attitude
• Ability to work to direction & to schedule, yet have the initiative this role requires
• High level of attention to detail
• Ability to lead small in-house & casual team effectively (people management skills, good communication skills)
• Ability to work solo and autonomously, as well as be a valuable member of a small team

Desired qualifications

The following qualifications would be advantageous to this role:
• Horticultural training and experience – Cert 3 or Cert 4
• Forklift license
• Light Loader License
• Spray certificate
• Chainsaw license
