Experienced market gardeners looking for land in the Northern Rivers

We, Lizzie & Gianluigi, from Piccolo Farm are looking for a temporary base for a few months in the Northern Rivers to find and buy a property. We have been running a successful market garden for CSA and restaurant produce for six years outside of Sydney and willing to trade work for a place to park our caravan and bell tent.

Requirements: Electricity, drinking water and some sort of sewage for the van toilet or a compost toilet.

Preferred land share arrangement :

Initially we are looking for a host farm to barter around 8 work hours per week for a place to park our van and tent. We are traveling as a family with Lukas (10yo), Georgia (7yo) and our placid collie Jimmy. They all know how to behave around a farm and people. 

We hope to find someone social as we would love to connect to local farmers for a new network. We have experience from starting and running our own diverse market garden incl. business plan, workshops, marketing, website building etc. and willing to share/coach any skills which would be beneficial to our host farm. We would appreciate a quiet spot on your farm and don’t need much space. We are willing to work additional hours for payment.

LONG TERM

Our long term plan is to find and buy a property of our own in the area of min 5 acres with a creek. We look forward to building a new farm with some sort of agritourism offering so location and natural attributes are more important than existing infrastructure. 

We are looking at both properties with or without a house as natural characteristics are more important. We grow a range of vegetables, specialty produce such as unusual herbs and edible flowers so flat and fertile land with a water source is necessary.

For our new property we need to be connected to the grid. We have been looking in the Kyogle area but are flexible.
