Seeking Farmland / Landshare - Newcastle region NSW
We are Matthew Rozzoli, James Rozzoli and Lauren Isaac, three young and passionate market gardeners living and working in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. Together we operate the Feedback Farms urban market garden in Cardiff Heights, formerly run by Feedback Organic Recovery.
We have been market gardeners for over two years at the farm in Cardiff Heights. Two years with David at Feedback Organic Recovery and since April as our own business.
We have been informed that our opportunity to farm on the space in Cardiff Heights is soon coming to an end as our landlords intend to develop the land later this year. To continue to follow our passions as farmers we need to find a new site to run Feedback Farms.
The three of us are extremely passionate about sustainable agricultural and naturally produced food. We pour our hearts and souls into producing food and are extremely grateful for the opportunities we have had over our journey.
We are looking for a new site to grow vegetables, fruits and flowers according to our sustainability and natural-focused methods. We intend to use only organic principles, without the use of any herbicides or pesticides, as well as minimising the use of fossil fuels and plastics as much as possible in our operation.
We would love to lease land to farm or cooperate with other like-minded people in order to operate our farm. We intend to operate our farm commercially to support ourselves financially through the sale of produce and running educational workshops and programs relating to sustainability and gardening.
To operate a productive market garden we need:
At least half an acre (~2000m2) of arable land within an hour’s drive of Newcastle
Vehicle access to the site, for our delivery vehicles as well as delivery of mulch or compost
Reliable access to water for irrigation
Ability to use or set up a shed to store equipment, a small-greenhouse for irrigation and a shed or room to operate a washing and packing station
Some other things that would be great, but not essential are:
Access to electricity for equipment and the possibility of setting up a cool room to store vegetables
Ability to produce compost nearby for use of the farm
The ability to have visitors on site for workshops or events
The ability to erect and operate a 20m x 5m polytunnel greenhouse that we currently have setup in Cardiff Heights
If you have any interest in working with us, or know anyone who might please feel free to contact us or pass along our details! Thank you so much!!
