Organic Farm Production Manager/ Market Gardner

Stix Group is a unique business specialising in catering, café/restaurant and events. We are also the providore of premium organic vegetables to the top restaurants in Sydney.

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Horticulturalist/market gardener reporting directly to the farm manager and Managing Director.

About the Role
The main focus of this role will see you lead the team in the day to day management and execution of our Organic masterplan, from soil health and preparation, seed propagation, planting and plant health to picking and grading.
This position would suit someone with an eye for detail, the ability to direct others and strong crop management skills.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Assisting with pest, weed and disease management
• Research projects and experiments to improve farming systems, soil and plant health
• Involvement in farm operations – nutrition, crop protective practices and crop manipulation.

About You
The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with a degree in Horticulture (or equivalent) coupled with practical experience in a horticultural role or market garden as well as:
• Strong commercial acumen
• The ability to take responsibility and make things happen
• Self-motivated and enjoy working as part of a team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A willingness to get out into the field and get your hands dirty.

General maintenance and handyman experience would be advantageous but not essential.

Remuneration will be based on experience.
